Lidell & Waffles.

April 30, 2010

This morning I set up a Youtube account so I can upload the amazing Jamie Lidell videos I took last night. I love my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS5. I’m thrilled at how good the sound quality is. Though I now realize that I need to NOT sing along with people while I’m recording…whoops.

Jamie Lidell is my pick for best singer/performer of our generation. He is 100% consumed by the music; it flows out of him effortlessly. You can tell the filter’s off, there’s no voice in his head. His eyes roll back and it looks like he’s in a trance; he is, and he puts you in a trance, too.

Though it’s a shame that more people don’t know who he is, I have a feeling this album he has coming out in May is gonna get him a lot of recognition, especially since he worked with Beck, Feist, Grizzly Bear, etc. So I’m just glad I got to see him at the Troubadour with an intimate crowd of 200 people, my elbows on the stage and my camera in his face.

This morning my friend Michelle J and I got up and strolled over to Urth Caffe for my last “fun” breakfast for awhile…tomorrow I start 30 days of no caffeine, no refined sugar, no processed foods, etc. So I ordered the Multi-Grain Waffles, which may have been some of the best waffles I’ve ever had. I also had some of their delicious bread dipped in their delicious olive oil…I know, weird for breakfast, but I won’t be eating bread for the month of May either, so I savored it.

After Michelle took off for her libararian job, I threw on my bikini and meditated in the sun for 20 minutes, cross-legged on one of our lounge cushions. I’m trying to get a dose of Vitamin D every day by sitting in the sun for at least 10 minutes. There was a lovely breeze, a cloudless sky, and the temp outside is perfect…my Droid says 59 degrees right now, but in the sun it feels like 70.

Tonight is Live Figure Drawing at Catalyst Art Collective! Again, it’s my last night of drinking booze for 30 days, so I plan on imbibing! I’ve got a few bottles of wine I should get out of the house, so as not to be tempted…

I saw this quote by Sean Stephenson this morning on Facebook, and it reminded me of why I’m doing the 30-day commitment to posting a blog every single day:

“Procrastination is really a form of commitment phobia, commitment to the completion of an idea.”

Yup. No more!
