Two things checked off the Bucket List!
August 17, 2011
Yesterday, as we were driving from Montreal to Boston, my co-road tripper Chris realized that we’d be passing the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory in Vermont. I have always wanted to go to the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory, and/or work there. As an ice cream taster, of course. Unfortunately the wait for the tour was an hour and a half, so we didn’t get a tour, but I did get scoops of two new 2011 flavors, Late Night Snack (vanilla bean ice cream with a salty caramel swirl and fudge-covered potato chips), and What A Cluster (peanut butter ice cream with caramel cluster pieces, marshmallow swirls, and peanut butter swirls). Nom!
Tonight we’re staying in Provincetown, the last town on the tip of the Cape, for two days. Coincidentally, magically, there’s a huge Carnival party there on Thursday night, the last night of our road trip. It’s the biggest party of the year, which made finding lodging difficult, so we consulted CouchSurfing. Our request was accepted by a friendly Eastern-European girl named Eva, much to our releif and excitement.
Well, she calls us this morning and tells us to be at the Provincetown Pier at 5:20pm – she works on a WHALE WATCHING BOAT and has three tickets for us!!!!!! I have always wanted to go whale watching but have never been. I almost bought whale watching tickets a few times in the past year but never made it. And now tickets have dropped into my lap for free! Life is good! Fingers crossed that we spot some whales!
